TRIPLE FILM NEWS!
It stars Emma Tooth's hands, Emir Bazrafshan's hands and Robin Lynn's face. It is a dark tale of love and memory and also includes Owen's first foray into true stop-motion animation. Voice recording was performed at Snug Recording Co in Derby.
Trip, the head geezer of Terminal Station has hosted it so head on over, click the video tab and navigate to the bottom of Owen's page to download it. While you're there, check out the other artists, too - there's a wealth of talent to look at and listen to.
Online reviews of the book are amazing - jaw-droppingly so - and Owen's getting incredibly excited about the (unrelated) script which is looking visceral, beautiful and a step up from his previous work... although, it's only at a first draft stage right now so it'll be a fair old wait before you get to see it!

July 2008 Owen was C-camera on an advert for 'George at Asda' directed by none other than Midlands hero Shane Meadows (thoroughly nice guy, since you asked). The shoot was on the 'Red One' state of the art 4K camera (ie it's awesome; whatever camera you've got, this one is better) and was produced by Tomboy Films. More recently, Owen's been helping out on Paul King's feature film 'The Bunny and the Bull'. Paul King is best known as the director of The Mighty Boosh and his imagination is fantastic and evident at all points. Owen would LOVE to tell you all about it, but it's all hush-hush!

JUNE/JULY 2008 Owen has been teaching young people how to shoot and edit video with BBC Blast. BBC Blast has had a touring event with music, graffiti, dance, photography and animation lessons, too. Owen has been working with Derby Dance aka DeDa more and more lately. Earlier in the year, he shot the award-winning 'Liquid Concrete' for them and more recently he's been following them around the city of Derby, shooting a variety of performances for 'Big Dance 08' - in this image he's filming a BMX Hip-Hop dance choreographed by Chris Caffrey.
On July 5th, the city council hosted a big event at Derby Market Place. Owen was comissioned to create several video pieces for the day. He was also asked to provide a live video feed of the events onto the BBC Big Screen, a sort of all-weather giant TV in the city centre.

LOVECATS Owen recently directed photography for a music video by the band Patchwork Grace - their cover of the excellent Cure song 'Lovecats'.

Over the past 6 months, Owen has been filming a documentary about Unleashed, a company lead by Sarah Davenport and Justin Turford. The company creates events to promote good art and design and act as a general muse for the Nottingham region. Filming has led Owen to castles in Milan and vineyards in the surrounding countryside...
Most recently,Unleashed hosted a party bringing together many of the major artist studios in Nottingham for the first time, held in an abandoned police station - complete with a full rave in a prison cell with a capacity of about 15 which included decks, strobe and smoke machine (see image!).
Owen shot a video for their website which you can see right here! |
24 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE Owen was the director of photography for a short in the Britfilms 24hr film challenge on May 5th in Nottingham...
Directed by Paul Thompson who also worked with Owen on 'RUN!', it starred Amir Bazrafshan (usually a director who has worked with Owen as DOP on several shorts including 'Butterfly & Me' starring Rupert Procter, and more recently 'Ivory', produced by Tim Smith of Fourmost Films- Amir's hands also star in the role of 'Japheth' in Owen's latest short 'Effigy' - what a tangled web this is!) alongside none other than Rupert Procter.
You can read about the day here in an article by Left Lion magazine who covered the event, then watch the film itself here (click to choose small, medium or large).
